Cash Rebates for Installing Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Utah: A Guide for Businesses

As the popularity of electric vehicles continues to grow, the demand for charging stations is also increasing. In an effort to encourage clean transportation and improve air quality, Utah is offering cash rebates for installing electric vehicle charging stations. These rebates can cover up to 75% of the cost of the charger, making it an attractive option for businesses, communities, and multi-unit properties.
Rebates are available for both Level 2 and DC fast chargers, and residential customers may also qualify for rebates for Level 2 chargers. To qualify, the charger must be included on the approved chargers list.
For non-residential customers, the following incentives are available:

  • AC Level 2 Charger (single port): $1,000 per charger up to 75% of total charger cost
  • AC Level 2 Charger (multi-port): $1,500 per charger up to 75% of total charger cost
  • DC Fast Charger (single port): $30,000 per charger up to 75% of total charger and installation costs (subject to cap)
  • DC Fast Charger (multi-port): $42,000 per charger up to 75% of total charger and installation costs (subject to cap)

In addition to the above incentives, make-ready projects are also eligible for custom incentives to help pay upfront costs for electrical infrastructure and installation of EV projects. Applications for make-ready projects are accepted on a quarterly basis, with deadlines on March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.
